Alexander Burke was born and raised in Southern California.
His experience accompanying improvised comedy led to Alexander becoming the youngest musical director for Second City.
Alexander was next asked to be the musical director for “iO Theater 25 Anniversary Concert DVD” including performances by Mike Myers, Amy Poehler, Tim Meadows, Andy Dick, Andy Richter and Rich Talarico. Rich later hired Alexander to be the composer of “Frank TV” on TBS.
After graduating from Columbia College Chicago, Alexander moved back to Los Angeles where he graduated from the University of Southern California’s film-scoring post-baccalaureate program.
Alexander quickly found work in television as part of the house band for Robert Townsend’s talk show pilot “Night of Townsend” on TBS. On the show, he met Eban Schletter, the composer of “SpongeBob SquarePants” and Grant-Lee Phillips, which led to Alexander playing in Phillips’s band.
Alexander next performed with Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields’s band “Dead Man’s Bones”.
Alexander began to work with numerous bands, including Save Ferris, opening for Gwen Stefani at Irvine Meadows and Mexico City’s Ska Festival.
Alexander has worked as the Musical Director for The MTV Movie Awards, composed the song “Back to the Start” for the Iron Man 3 Soundtrack, composed the song “Love You Like This” for the Jason Bateman film ‘The Gift’ and played conga with Winston Churchill in his influential Christian symphonic black metal band God’s Regret.
